Dark Ceiling

He points the gun to his head. He is calm and ready to get out of this nightmare. As normal as this seems to him, he can't stop the shiver from the feeling of cold metal on his skin. Slowly, he pulls the trigger. A loud sound echoes through the empty building. Darkness fills his sight. No light, no joyous laughter, not even echoes of sound.

He knows everything is going to be fine when he opens his eyes, as always. Waking up to the sound of waves crashing into the beach on his king-sized bed, as always. Oh, how he longs for that calmness again.

He opens his eyes. There is no sunlight, no waves crashing, let alone the calmness he was longing.  This can't be happening. He tries to understand the situation, but it is too dark to even get his head working.
